Re: handling probs
You don't need to adjust both sides - they came from the factory with only
one side adjustable. You just adjust one side until both wheels are pointing
in the right direction! If your steering wheel is then out of alignment you
can straighten it.
Your problem sounds much like the way mine behaves and is probably caused by
differences in camber between the two front wheels, made worse by the fact
that the toe-in is probably not ideal. Unless you can set the camber with
some degree of accuracy, i.e. on a proper jig or with a home-made jig, or
you can see an obvious difference in camber, then I'd just leave it as it is
and readjust your toe setting. If you are doing a shadetree job, a good
technique is to sight along the face of one rear wheel and move the steering
wheel until the front wheel is parallel with the rear - a couple of layers
of plastic under the front wheels makes this easier - and then adjust the
tie-rod until the other side is also parallel. Not ideal but good enough
that you won't scrub your tires to death. Also, if you have adjusted the
camber or have even just jacked-up the front end, you should drive the car
round the block before setting the toe, to let the suspension settle into
its normal position.
