Yeah, I would agree that there is absolutely nothing wrong with those
motors. I was trying to figure out why someone (anyone, reliable or
joe-shmoe)would say that an 85 VW had the "worst" motor. The first thing
that came to mind was that it was the first year for the A2 cars, as this
was the only thing significantly different about 85 vs. the adjacent years.
Wasn't that also around the time that the Mexico plant started making parts
for US cars? I see many "Mexico" stamped parts on A2 cars in the boneyard,
but just a few on earlier cars.
Ehh, I should probably not think and type at the same time. Especially when
It's "exploratory" thinking. :-)
