first off, good job hunting down the problem. 14yr old cars tend to have

That should not be so. You still have something causing too much current to 
flow through the relay when the blower is on High. There is probably a short 
somewhere and I would get busy finding it before it gets real bad (can you 
say electrical fire!!).

The wiring diagrams can be confusing. Just stay focused and stay with one 
component at a time. Like the fan gets power from .... the load reduction 
relay. If you try too many things at once you can get lost in notime.
