Sound like the clutch cable outer part has collapsed on itself.  Perhaps 
after a little vibration and hard feelings from a left foot, the cable jammed 
back into position.  It is, however, ver broke! This happend to me in a 
parking lot (same place where my truck's clutch cyl. went bad!?!), I was able 
to get home on ducktape and the expirience my of mom's Camry's hydrolic 
clutch cylinder!
