See my reply for battery wiring:  Boat stores.  I put a black fold-up cup 
holder on the side of the console next to the shifter on the pass. side.  
Works great, West Marine brand.  Cost about $7.  Hardly noticable, but not 
quite OEM.  Although VW used almost the same thing, but lesser quality on 
some later Vanagons.
