clunking noise

In addition to needing to replace a couple of motor mounts, my car makes a 
light clunking noise, like maybe a disinigrated wheel bearing.  But it only 
makes the noise when the car is moving and the engine is under load.  The 
clunking is the loudest when I downshift and let up on the clutch.  Any 
ideas?  Could it be directly related to a busted mount?
