Re: 16V Handling -- a story of autox woes......
haha yea mine was pretty shitty before i got my exhaust on, that
clogged cat was chokin the hell out of the motor--wouldnt pull over 6k.
Now it is happy from 3k-redline and past 4000rpm its a beast.
How do you like the H+R's with the turbogas? Are the shocks stiff enough?
I was thinking of doing koni's sometime but those boge's sure would be
cheaper.
Anyways, i guess ill throw in my thoughts on autocrossing. I agree with
whoever said it that you need to enter the corners off the gas then feed
it as much as you can without pushing til you reach the apex and go at it.
I used to try to enter too fast and it would push like a bitch, but if i
keep it at the limit of traction all the way through it really hangs on
well for a FWD. I learned to drive on RWD cars so im just starting to get
the front drive thing.
That Iowa autox was pretty crappy, the course was so small the 16v could
hardly get into the happy zone, but this fall in Peoria there was a pretty
big course at ICC and we were getting over 55 on this large straight.
Plus it was a light rain slowing us down, but still it was a fast course.
Having the roc nearly sideways at 50mph on a wet course is a little
scary... There was another black 16v there with supposedly all stock
setup(it looked a little too low) and R1's and he was smoking the shit out
of me and most everyone with regular cars. Even at the end of the day
when it dried he still had me beat by 2 sec. and that's in ES and im in
DSP. He has a lot more experience than me but still Damn.. I need some
race tires. A quaife wouldnt hurt either.
