Re: aftermarket struts?

You will definitly need a strut compressor. Be sure
to be VERY carefull if this is your first time with
struts. I've done my own for years but about a year
ago I had a spring slip out of the compressor(safetys
weren't on duh) Caught my wrist(broken) and bounce
across the shop until my bike caught it(doh). 13mm
socket for the strut bearings(top 2) and I believe a
17 or 19mm for A arm.(lower 2) Firmly secure the
strut(either vice on tube or in a wall mount spring
compressor) Compress the strut until the spring is
loose on the piston. I think it's a 22 or 24 mm nut
on the end of the piston to remove the upper strut
bearing. Remove the bearing and might as well replace
since your in there... I know my stuts are inserts so
I can unscrew the cap and remove the insert. assembly
is reverse of the above. Just be sure to be very
careful when removing the spring compressor!!!!! Be
sure to get a quality alignment after your done
(fronts only) when you remove the stuts you throw off
the camber which also jacks with the toe...

I use gabriels myself. I know not the best but they
work and replacements are readily accesible and FREE!!
Koni's would be nice but have to wait until funds
allow:P

Anyone have anything else I might have forgotten.
It's second nature now so I probably just skimmed the
surface of the work. Mostly basic tools except for
the compressor...
