And speaking of rust removal, have any of you used POR-15
(http://www.por15.com/)? This seems to be pretty well recommended, but I'd
like to hear about any of your experiences...
Thanks,
Oliver

Oliver-
Ive used this stuff on ACVWs and it is the GREATEST.
Since I've crashed my uGLi and bought a cabby, I'll soon start to switch the
parts over. I'm going to wire brush all the suspension parts from the uGLI
and get them ready for install on the cabby. When the day comes, I'm going
to wire wheel the inside of the wheel wells and POR-15 them, too.
I have the Grey at home right now, but the place isnt too far from my house,
so Im going to try their 6-pack kit. I wanna see what the silver looks like,
because I'm thinking about doing the engine bay in either silver or grey
while Im doing the Turbo motor swap.
You should have bare metal, and make sure you get their 'metal ready'
product otherwise the stuff might peel off of a smooth, non-rusty surface.
It kinda feels like that plasticy stuff you dip your tool handles into to
make them grippy... Its self leveling too- no brush marks. This is a great
alternative to powdercoating. Its not as attractive as powdercoating, but it
may be more durable.
I'll be repairing the cabby's winsheild surround in the next week or so (if
there's no snow), and I'll be using the POR there too. I'll tell everyone
how it goes.

Does this mean the Cabby will be called 'Cab Callaway?'
