New head and cam gas mileage question

Should I be noticing a fairly major difference in gas consumption with the
installation of a new 1.8 ltr ported/polished 16v head and european intake
cam?  It seems (granted I've been getting on it) that I am sucking quite a
bit of gas.  

Any thoughts?
