2.4L 90 Passat?

I talked to the guy that has the "2.4L" 4cyl 90 Passat motor. I suggested it 
maybe a 2.0 4cyl. He said no it is a 2.4L. Is there such a thing?

Anybody seen this. And if it exist (like little green men) is it compatible 
with a 2.0?
