MK2 Bodywork Question

After 5 mos. I'm still repairing damage done by the PO.  One problem is with
the device that prevents the door from being opened too far.  Somehow, the
mount on the body has broken and fallen inside the area behind the front
wheel well.  Any ideas on how to approach this repair??
