I don't quite understand what is happening with your seat, but there is one 
simple test you can do with the aftermarket antenna
.  Take it off, does this change the quality of the radio?
 If it is not removable, put a multimeter on it, and the other lead to 
ground.  If there is resistance then it is the one being used by your radio.  
Another possibility, it may be a CB antenna.  If this is the case, get a CB 
radio!!!  you don't need the cell phone, just call up the truckers and Duke 
boys.
