Emergency brake freezing up.
My emergency brake has frozen up twice now in the past week. I am trying
to use only when necessary. (when I'm parked on a hill, like in my drive
way, mainly). The first time it just wouldn't release. I tried to go
easy a couple of times, but I just kept staling, so finally I just rode
out my clutch really bad until it broke free. Now the second time I got
in my car and it released fine. I got down the rode maybe about 1/2 mile
and came to a stop light. I was on a little hill, I let off the brake to
drift back a little, and I didn't budge, I thought huh that's weird. The
light turns green I try to go and I stall. Then it hits me what was
wrong. Once again I had to ride the clutch really bad, just to get
through the intersection. Then about another 1/2 mile down the rode it
finally broke free. Okay so my question is, is there any way to try to
prevent this, other than not using it? The temperature here the past
week has been in between about 40F to 15F. I'm surprised I haven't had
any trouble with my doors yet. (better not speak too soon) I've never
had this problem before. The emergency brake barely worked in my Bronco,
and also think that my Bronco makes just a bit more torque that my roc,
so If it did happen, then I didn't even notice it.
Thanks
Ryan
