muffler install advice
Listers,
The 84 I just bought has a 2" Autotech cat back system that needs a new
muffler. I've already got the old muffler removed (Thanks to my handy
Dremel) and a new Dynomax Super Turbo ready to install. Is installation
as simple as sliding the muffler on the exhaust pipe and clamping? and
then sliding the tailpipe into the muffler and clamping? Is it just a
slip fit, or is there some kind of "exhaust sealer" I need to coat the
pieces with.
It looks pretty simple, but if anyone has any general exhaust system
tips/tricks or if there are any common mistakes to avoid, I'd like to
hear them. Also, the system uses a hanger for the muffler/tailpipe
which welded to the clamp. Is this clamp/hanger combo specific to the
Autotech exhaust system, or are there generic clamps/hangers at the
parts store that will work? The reason I ask is that they are pretty
rusted and if I could pick up a replacement on my way home from work
today, I will...otherwise I will use the one that I already have.
Also...what's the word on dynomax mufflers...
TIA,
-Keith
