well let see if yo uwanna do it right way, you are
gonna have toget some for of turbo pistons, cutsom of oversized g-60 pistons
tofit yor blockthenyou are gonna need rods maybeyou can use teh g60 block
hmmmmm
the you are gonna need good camshafts for teh
proper tuning adn operationof the car the thign about intake manifold, airbox,
adn plumbign of intercooler, i can be done buthere is the most important
questions youave toask yoru self, vw has not een makignteh
g-60 for a long time,a dnthere is a limited amount ofgood workign
units avaible, not to mentionif you want one for vw which is about 2800USD new
whichslughtly steep, adnif you buy ione off ebay or a junkyard there is no
guarentee if it works soyou coudlspend upto 1000 dolars for a good doorstop,
thenyou need to worry about how to compensate a managemantsystem you could wire
in teh g60electronics or go allout and do it right with eh electromotive motec
or haltec stuff, then tune it, ohh yeah if you want to dothe front mount
intercooler set up just liekteh g-60 that 120* slincer piping adn intercooler
will run abotu 1600-2000 dollars for teh factory setup
my suggestion woudl be to gofor a turbo adnyou
willbe happy as long as you builf it correctly with all yor proper componets,
adn tunign of air and fuelratio's.
if yor g60 unit breaks adnyou can find another one
adn you decide to do a turo you are goign to haveto do soem conversattionas far
as downpipe, exhaust manifold, adn tehn someadditional plumbing which will cocst
you more on teh long run if you do teh g60 blow it up teh do teh turbo
conversation, i woudlsuggest you do a turbo
the 2.0L can achieve plenty of power if you buildit
well, with teh right compents, if you are goigntodo it that way iwold tel you to
get aset of 83 mm cast pison overbore the blocka bit, teh go with teh ported
1.8head and a good set of shrick cam shafts, headers adn exhaust if possible, if
you can swing it i owudl also suggest a 50 mm manifold to go as a compement to
teh setupadn amotronic to tuen teh car more apporpialty, tot eh aditions of teh
motor,a nd to maximize performacne
if i missed anythign letme know

I too have a dream of having a supercharger on my 1.8 16v Roc. And yes it
is possible!
Tim of New Dimensions is willing to do an R & D on my car as soon as I
am ready for the cost.4 to 6k ballpark figure and I am considering it. Maybe
if we could do this as a group it might bring the cost down. or should I just
get a 2.0 ?? any advise.............Leo

i didnotask him to talk about this car, he also purcahsed a rallye golf
for a spare car, the only problem he is encountering withteh g-60 16v, is
that the vin number form vw motorsports is only 9 digits i believe, so
teh DMV is having a hard time believeing that such a recent car has suck
a low number but anyway, soem more info for you if you are wone of th
lucky ones that gets to own one of these 72 beast, you get a complete
parts listing ( which is a booklet ) that gives you all part numbers for

Taken from the Illustrated Volkswagen Buyers Guide by
Peter Vack ©1993:
"The G60 supercharger was applied to the normal
eight-valve head, and it didn't take long before VW Motorsports adapted
the G60 to the 16V head. According to Ian Kuah in his book VW Power and
Style, seventy Golf G60 16Vs were produced by the Brussels, Belgium
plant, making it the 'fastest production road car ever to have left any
VW plant destined for a private customer.' The G60 16V was not shipped to
the United States, of course, but ironically put out 210hp DIN and was in
full compliance with US emissions
regulations."
