Re: (8v) Adjusting valves?



This sounds more like a engine mount problem, if it was something in
the engine that was causing it to vibrate that much, I would think you
would have more problems and pretty major ones at that, but it doesn't
sound like it.  Park your car on level ground and put it in gear, then
manually push it back and forth, the engine and tranny mounts should
only let the engine rock back and forth a couple of inches (2 or 3) if
it is any more than that then I would start looking at the engine
mounts. As far as the lifters go, all they'll do is give off a tapping
sound, you'll hear them when they need adjustment, the sound comes from
the head and is pretty unmistakable, it is also more audible at idle
cause the engine isn't making noise to cover it up, and I have never
heard of lifters vibrating the whole engine.
