Euro Turn Signal Feature

I don't know exactly what this is called, but while I was walking along
the streets of Osnabruck (the city where our beloved Sciroccos were built)
I saw a Mercedes and a few other cars parked on a dark road that had one
(yes, one) parking light dimly on, and it was the one on the road side. I
remember reading about this somewhere. Apparently if you leave the turn
signal on after you turn off the ignition switch, one of the parking
lights comes on to help illuminate the car. If I recall correctly, this is
a standard feature on european cars.

The question for you european listers is, how is this wired up? Do you
have wiring diagrams for european sciroccos that you could look at for me?
I think it would be kind of neat to have this feature.

Also, is it just the parking light at full brightness, or is it dimmer
than usual? Just the front, or both the front and the rear?

I wonder if the headlight and turn signal switches are different in europe
to accommodate this feature, or just a wire is missing or what..

Also, I was dinking around in my car tonight and noticed that there was a
lot of side to side play in my clutch and brake pedals. Is there something
that can be done about this. I didn't get a good look but I think there
are bushings on the sides of the pedals, and I'd imagine they wear in a
similar fashion to shifter bushings since how many times do you step on
the brakes or clutch over 100k miles? I might try getting these from the
dealer and replacing them to see if it makes a difference. It seems to me
that it would feel much nicer to have firm, linear pedals that wobbly
ones.

Thanks,

-Toby
