Exactly - I thought it was the spring at first too. 
When it was sitting low... but when I lifted it and it
stayed at the correct height the next day, and after
some messing around (push, pull see what happens), I
decided it was the shock.  It's hard to give correct
descriptions in email - it was already too long as it
was...  At least I didn't say "My cars crooked, what's
wrong?" ;)
