Re: Shifting problem



   Thats only the way they are if they arent adjusted right or have worn
parts.  If everything is right, it should go into 1st anytime under ~ 30
mph or so, maybe more if you match the revs a little.  If you rebuild the
shift linkages and adjust as described in the bentley, and have no other
problems like sagging mounts, it should go into first no problem.  Redline
helps a bit also.
I dont know about the clutch pedal, ive always though scirocco's had a nice
soft and smooth pedal feel.  Maybe your cable is shit or kinked on
something.  Do you have the rubber washer where the cable goes through the
bracket on the trans?  Otherwise it will rub the aluminum bracket and cut
into it, and probably make it hard to push.
