[mk2] instrument cluster

i finished install my 24 hr. clock in my '86 and went out and put it 
back in the car. only thing is, when i started the car up, the blinker 
light went nuts (like it does when a bulb's dead). as a matter of fact, 
there are no lights on the car. oh, and it was doing this with the stalk 
set in the off position. is this a normal thing to happen when there're 
no lights present?
  oh, and here's a trivia question for y'all (i don't know the answer). 
when i was replacing the circuit paper (i noticied this before, as 
well), there are only connections for one set of lights (the normal of 
what we all see; turn sig, oil, oxs, battery, brights). what was the 
bottom row for (if anything)? i think i've asked the question before, 
but i apologize for not remembering the answer. thanx.
