Re: Autotech springs? (are they still HoR's?)
To balance things out as usual, I have had HoR springs on my car for ~3
1/2 years. 16" x 7.5" wheels and I've yet to run into a problem. I bought
them because a friend had a set he ran on his SCCA Scirocco 16v for four
years that he then sold to another friend (with Illuminas) who has had
them on his car for 4 years now. Still no problems.
HOWEVER, back when I worked in retail sales (and Neuspeed springs were
made by H&R) I saw several unhappy people in their bouncy Rabbits,
Jettas, and Scirocco's (Mk1 & 2) that had SEVERE problems out of their
H&R's. I recommended the HoR's to a guy in a Rabbit GTi. He purchased
them and had them installed about 3 years ago. I saw him last weekend at
an auto-x and I remembered all of the bashing the list has given the HoR
name. The springs are still on the car (with bilstein Race struts) and he
turned an impressive time.
I don't know if you guys got some 'lemon' springs or what, but I have yet
to see a set of HoR's go bad. (as long as they're used in the correct
application-{ie. ask Alan H. when he gets back on the list})
Just leveling the field,
Eric
Good, bad...I'm the guy with the gun.
