I used to think the same thing. I see cars with tint on all the windows
ALL the time. (and what's up with the yellow crap on cars lately?? Gawd
that's hideous!) 
So one day I get pulled over for being "too loud". 
He cant prove im over 95 db. 
So then he claims I am using NOS. 
No bottle in the trunk OR a NOS system under the hood. 
Oh, what's this??? Your front windows are tinted?? BINGO. 
So it was a $10 fixit ticket and I spent 30 minutes pealing the stuff of
my front windows. If anything, its just a reason to get pulled over if
they're really looking to find SOMETHING to cite you for.
