It's a 16V motor from a Passat. There are three layers with
the inner part being aluminum. I'm not sure from what the outer parts are made.
Does this make it a rubber gasket? I wanna make sure cuz yer right, oil pan
gaskets are a PITA to replace.
SO, the consensus is that I can re-use it? TIA

Subject: RE: Oil Pan Gasket (16V)
The
older A3 gaskets are reusable, they are rubber with metal inserts. The paper
gaskets are not and you are asking for a world of trouble if you do
considering what a PITA it is to some of those damn pan bolts in. It will
leak.
Are the oil pan gaskets (I have an aluminum one) on the
16V reusable? My dad seems to think so. I would like to think so but I'm not
sure. TIA
