AFAIK,

 

Only the Schroth harnesses are DOT approved. I could be wrong about these being the only ones, but I'm sure that they are DOT approved.

 

I have heard of cops giving a ticket for non-DOT harnesses, but usually in combination with other citations, and only after you've pissed him off.
