Re: Audi throttle body...
There must be something different about the Pickup manifold from that
vintage... it's simply listed as "No longer available." So it may have
been a restrictive manifold, although to what end I'm not sure. Later
models followed the application notes in my previous posting. You would
know the good 4-2-1 clip-on, as it looks very similar to the dual-port
when viewed from above - it's the same crossover style. You can see a
picture of it if you have Greg Raven's watercooled performance book - I
believe he refers to it as a late model A1 manifold...? The flange gasket
is the same as all VW clip-ons, but the actually inside diameter of the
outlet is much larger than the boat anchor's outlet.
Personally I like the C-clips, as in our lattitude they are much easier to
work with after years of accumulated rust and corrosion. I use the wedge
installation as outlined in the Bentley, and have no problems with removal
or installation. It's a much faster system to R&R, and provides better
isolation from vibration for the exhaust system than does the bolted
flange and flex pipe - a must for diesels... But I expect if I lived
somewhere where rocksalt was nothing more than a bad dream, I'd prefer the
bolt on flanges too... :)
