OK - moving subject very slightly again because i am in the UK
I just got my insured on and agreed value with the insurers at £5250 (US$8400)
I had to an independent valuation from a reputable VW specialist on the value of
the car in stock condition. Then i had to get an engineers report on the
modifications (quality of fit, cost etc) and i supplied all of this plus a
number of photos showing the condition. They increased my premium by 10% but it
will cut the valuation hassle and luckily the garage i use did the valuation and
report for free. Just an idea that maybe of use.

To slightly stray from your topic.. has anyone taken out EXTRA insurance
on their cars, to cover the fact that it is in ultra-clean or modded
condition? I've heard this is not expensive, and will cover your ass in
situations such as this one. Anybody? If this can indeed be done
for a reasonable cost, I'm all over it..
