Re: MK1 Stock wheel size
No big deal. Every MK1 Scirocco I have ever owned
(1977-present) came with wheels that are stamped 13X5J
(including the ones I own now).
Every review of the MK1 and every owners manual list
the size as 13X5 for the alloy.
The 13X5.5" style which I saw looks just like the
13X5, but is stamped 13X5.5"
I'm not saying that they never came with one
(13X5.5)from the factory in the U.S., but I doubt if
they did.
Bear in mind that VW continued to sell cars (Rabbit
convertible, A1 Jetta) with this style wheel as an
option.
But the fact remains that the stock alloy for MK1
Sciroccos (U.S.) is 13X5, with the possible exception
of a few late 1981 models. This is supported by my
absurd experience and my collection of owners manuals.
Is it important if I am right or wrong? NO.
