Ok, here's the scoop:

 

'87 Audi 5000, 2.3 5 cyl.

 

Car will not start. No spark at coil wire. The guy brought the knock sensor into the shop for us to look at and see if we can get one. The thing was FUBAR. My question is, and it may sound dumb, but WTF, would this cause a no-start?? This thing was hatched. The rubber surrounding the sensor crumbled off in my hands, and the wire was corroded the ENTIRE length of the wire. I was just amazed. TIA
