Starter wiggin' out

Anyone know what would cause a starter to keep running after starting
the car?  It usually does it when I first start it up each day.  I whack
it with a hammer and it stops.  :-)  It seems to be something with the
wiring.  When I tap the connections area on the starter, that's when it
seems to stop.  Then it's usually fine the rest of the day.
