Check the compression on this, have a leak-down test done if the owner 
will let you, as it's more comprehensive in detailed from where the
cylinders are leaking (intake or exhaust valves or rings).

Are you totally sure about that?  I may be out-to-lunch, but the cats
may end in the same relative position on both cars, so from the cat back,
you may be able to swap it over.  All you'd need is a TT 2.25 downpipe
for the 16v.  Call TT, they'll know for sure.

Sure, the springs and shocks will fit, but they might not be stiff enough
for the heavier 16v car.  Try it and see if you like the ride.  The upper
bar won't fit however, as it runs into the 16v throttle body linkage.
