coolant in motor...

hey dubbers, i got a situation here.

last night, after some spirited driving, i became very aware of a
coolant smell coming from my car. i thought that maybe my heater core was
starting to give out on me again or something, so i let it go. then this
morning, on the way to school, i notice that my exhaust is quite white (like
it was a cold day or something), and also my coolant warning light started
flashing. i pulled over and looked at the reservoir, and sho' nuff, the
damn thing was barely even wet with the stuff!

i took it straight home, thinking that my block was cracked or
something, and took my winter car instead (it's a white 84 rocco, btw). i
ended up buying a jug of coolant, and put a litre in there. i drove the car
around a bit up to operating temp(up to about 84ºC), and then jumped on it.
i must've done about 3 or 4 full-on red-line 1st-to-3rd gear runs, and no
coolant smells were evident. i assumed that i had a pinhole leak from one
of my hoses and it was spraying my exhaust manifold, cuz there was no
coolant puddles anywhere.

oh yeah, the oil was very oily :) still retained that normal synthetic
oil look. no foam, no white, no coolant stink. so then i figured that it
was getting into the cylinders. for the life of me, i couldn't figure out
what it could be, then dave sunn told me that it was probably my headgasket.

what would cause that? regular wear and tear? or is my block and head
all frigged up now? any and all info is much appreciated. thanks.

jason
the mad bastard

btw, i fucking DUSTED a 99 GS-R tonight :)
