>From the pictures it looks like the bolt is still in the way. I'm talking 
about the bolt that squeezes hole "D" (from the pictures) to secure the 
ball joint stud. This bolt needs to be taken out completely for removal 
and install. I don't know how you got it out with it still there. 

Also, I've found that unloading the sway bar (you might not have one, 
didn't see any) makes it easier to maneuver the control arm into place.
