I would have to disagree here as well.  VW/Audi's 5 valve technology
comes directly from their racing programs.  Namely their works S2's
with 25 valves (VERY rare), and the V8 cars they've been dicking around
with for years.  Having taken the new 4cyl 20 valve apart, I
would venture a guess that stock it out-flows the VW 16 valves
hands down, no contest.  Mainly due to port angles, diameters, and
overall valve characteristics.
