Many
of us are already on ICQ, but in my opinion ICQ is a lousy group chat
solution. Likewise, I've never seen a web-based chat forum that was very
enjoyable, well-designed, or easy to use.
IRC
is much better for this purpose and IRC client software is plentiful. If
you're a Windows users, download mIRC from www.mirc.co.uk and you'll be up and running
in a heartbeat.
Connect to a server that is part of the "EFNet" network (there are
dozens) and join the #Scirocco channel. That's where I am 24/7, since I
have a dedicated connection here at home. I'm always online but
certainly not always "there".
You
can join #Volkswagen and find more general watercooled VW talk, but I find the
guys that control that channel can get irritating at times. #VW is
mostly air cooled. Keep in mind that anyone can create a new channel
(and maintain control of it) simply by joining one that does not already
exists.
