<x-charset iso-8859-1>A pre-production 16V Scirocco was unveiled in late 1983. It was to be
available only in Flash Silver, with black bumpers & body kit and the
Montreal alloy wheels. This car had the Oettinger 16V head, but production
problems led to VW developing their own head, which delayed the launch for a
few years.
The production Scirocco 16V was first shown to the motoring press in August
1985, at the same time as the Golf 16V. Scirocco 16V's were introduced in
the UK in February 1986, to special order, as they were LHD only.
