RE: vw lighting (with additions)
<x-charset iso-8859-1>I'm running this set up you're talking about. Original US spec (4x6's all
around) but with Hellas. The low beams are 75/100s and the highs are 100s.
I also added a driving light switch (a mod that was talked about on this
list) so I can run both filaments in the low beam lights when I put my
brights on. Total possible output = 550 watts. Plenty bright without
relays, although I'm eventually going to do install them. For now, the
setup is more than enough, seeing as the only time you can use your high
beams in LA is when some clueless a**hole talking on his cell phone while
drinking his double heat, extra foam, tall and skinny cafÈ mocha comes at
you with his SUVs high beams on. But I digress...
Being on the Left Coast, I bought everything from the Potterpeople. If
memory serves, I spent about $50 per light, $8 per low beam upgrade, and $15
per high beam upgrade.

has anybody changed their light setup to something brighter. here, on
most nights, things are gloomy and the deer are quick (though,
thankfully, my scirocco stops almost immediately) and i'd like a little
more light. i read that the outer lights (the dual filaments) could be
upgraded to a 55/100 watt bulb and the high beams could be upgraded to
100 watt bulbs. has anyone tried this or is familiar with this setup?
my car is an mkii with the standard sealed beam lights. no euro lights,
no circular lights. just 4x6 (or something like that) sqaures of glass
that are incadescent. thanx.
