Speedo Cable

Well, this morning it started the screaming whine of a loose speedo cable, I
felt like ripping my gauges out and chucking them into the street. I so a
note on here about fixing this, can someone forward it to me. If it is
loose, and I drive with it, does it get worn and have to replace it ?
