Ok... That's all fine and good if you're like Brett and have a nice clean
engine bay with all bolts being broken loose recently.... for the rest of
us (lazy bastards) here is what I think is easier (yes I am a lazy bastard
and will usually end up doing more work trying to save some :)
Since you're doing both the front and the rear mounts, completely remove the
rear mount. Then, using a 17mm socket or wrench, remove the two bolts
holding the "cup" of the front mount to the crossmember. Then push up on
the back of the motor or tranny, this will swing the front mount down.
Remove cup, remove rubber mount, stick new rubber mount on, put cup on
rubber mount, swing back up into place and re-install bolts. Then install
your new rear mount and you're done
BTW, if you go with the "remove the starter" method, I have found on most of
my parts cars, etc that both starter bolts should use the same tool which is
not the same one used for cv bolts or teardrop caps. The older cars had
hex-heads (allen bolts) top and bottom. I have also found some cars to have
the nuts welded to the front mount, and some have just the upper nut welded
on
