Hey man, I really do feel you pain.....for the ifrst two yrs I had my 16V it 
was the same story. Had it 6 months and the both flange seals went. Front 
struts went. Oil pressure went (still dont have any), rods started knocking, 
plug wires went, two wheel bearings went, motor mounts, so then it went to 
the stealership for a diagnostic, came back with a 4K estimate on repairs and 
a offer to tow the car to the junkyard. Kept the car....I did a new head 
gasket, new lifters, new struts, new rod and main bearings, new oil pressure 
system (still no oil pressure) and walla!
3.5 years later and around 3K I have a decent running car.....nature of the 
beast I learned.
