Re: 16v with CIS
I've gotten quite a bit of feed back on this, which has actually been
quite surpising. From what most have said, it's possible and has
been done. Might take a little tinkering to get cold running smooth,
but other than that no problems should exist. The reason why I'm
wondering is that first I'd like to get my 16v conv. up and running
asap, second I plan on upgrading to a built 2.0l 16 in the future
when funds allow and also go to Motronic for daily driving or carbs if
I decide to make it strictly a racer. I can't see taking the time to
integrate CIS-E when I will just end up ripping it back out again in a
few years. Plus, from my experience, there is more leniency in
tuning available with straight CIS than there is with CIS-E. So thus
far this is how my project is shaping up:
finish rebuilding 1.8l 16v (maybe euro intake cam pending funds)
rebuild FF tranny
install and use with CIS
when funding allows in a few years:
install built 2.0L 16v
convert to Motronic or carbs pending use
further stiffen chassis
So what do you guys think?
