  Of course. You were only going 80% over the speed limit.

  You have taken physics, have you? You remember formulas about
mass, energy, speed, force, simple stuff like that...

  The force of the impact can be computed by multiplying the mass by
the speed squared.

  So since you were only going 80% over the limit, you would have hit
the brick wall only 3.24 times harder  than if you had been doing the
posted limit. Not bad!

  Also, if you were so alert and ready for any emergency, you were
driven to distraction (hehe) and did not notice the cop who sprang out
of nowhere.  If only he had appeared right in your path in front of the
car, imagine his surprise when you would knock the wind out of him.
And at 55, you would really slam him 4.84 times harder.  What a hoot!

  Imagine the waste, you would have destroyed a perfectly good car!
What were you thinking? :-)
