I gotta belive it's getting better
..., getting better all the time-
I was getting ready for a mad dash down to San Diego (Shawn'sk is
parting with some rimes I want) so I put the 'Roc in the shop to yank
the rear bearings (question of time vs money), but bad news poured forth
from the mech:...
"Son, you got a world of trouble here..." broken spring =80 , blown
rear shocks (this I knew), scored rear inner sidewall- toasted the tire,
exhaust system leaking from all available joints (yeah, yeah, I knew
this too), three maybe four toasted bearings, loose ball joints, torn CV
boot, leaking flange seal, inner CV full of tranny fluid, clutch cable
binding, yada, yada, yada. Big o piece of paper with a bunch of
highlighted entries on it.
An then there were the things they didn't mention like the ratty
interior and the two different sized rims, and the worn shifter bushings
(only half of the new set installed), well you get the idea.
So I limped it back home and started my plottin and plannin on a whole
'nother level. Replaced the clutch cable (after work), swapped out the
worn seats (at lunch time)- (I was riding on the cloth covered wire
frames), pinched the rear shocks & springs from the '78 and popped them
on with some quick & dirty upper bushings from Taiwan- (Sat. morning)
Such little things so far, but damn it's such a sweet ride. :]
Got another spot on Tues. to get the Right side axle stuff done, aint
got time to have the daily driver down, sides I don't have a real
garage, just a driveway.
The (near) future holds:
New suspension (ND Show - on sale)
New front air dam (potterdude confirms shipment)
Wax job (Yeahs Tosha-san, little tiny circles- wax on, wax off, wax on,
wax off...)
'new' rims mit Dunlops forthcoming
reconfigure the speakers and amp,
Man- bunches and bunches of good stuff!
Maybe I should go for the gusto and replace the windshield.
For those that went to Cincy; Good Doins! For those making their way
this away next week then tighten them bolts 1st!
Laters, gonna go see the Mummy,
TBerk
