this weekends big project
So on fri. I finally mounted all the parts I had sitting around the garage.
They were: JH head ported to IT specs, tt valve springs, NS 272 cam,
eurosport adj cam sprocket, oil pan baffle and a new oil pump. Estimated time
for assembly was around 5hrs. The biggest pain in the ass was that the
eurosport cam sprocket was assembled so that the timing mark was way out of
sequence with the cam itself. It wasn't until I spent all night thinking
about it that I had the presence of mind to check it (very frustrating I
expected a little more from Eurosport). Here are the driving impressions: the
car revs much more quickly than before but doesnt seem any quicker before
4-5000 rpm. I probably need to check my lifter shims when the engine is hot
because the head seems very noisy. I would say I definately lost some bottom
end. Suprisingly the 272 lets the car idle very well. All I need to do now is
re shim the head and start dialing in the cam timing. Any sugjestions on a
good setting for more low end power?
