Re: Nut Size
The nut in the middle holds the drive axle on, not the brake disk (1 philips
head screw). the size of the nut is 30mm (1-3/16" will also work). The
allen bolts are either 6 or 7mm. The lower ball joint bolt and nut are 15mm
and the bolt must be removed before the joint can be pounded apart. The tie
rod nut is 19mm and the best way to get it apart once the nut is loose or
removed is with 2 hammers. You don't hit any part of the tie rod (very
important). take one hammer in each hand and strike either side of the
joint at the same time, this will "squish" the joint and force the tie rod
end out. once all of these things are removed you have to decide whether to
unbolt the hub from the strut (17mm or 19mm) and affect the alignment or
unbolt the strut assembly at the top, in the engine compartment. taking the
strut out with the hub is more hassle when you do the presswork to put the
new bearing in, but you don't screw up your alignment.
Hope this helps.
