I am working on Kristen's '78 Scirocco (original 1457 cc motor).

I want to remove the timing belt cover. Unfortunately, there is a
weird "idler" pulley (for the AC compressor belt) attached to the
motor here. The pulley has no visible means of removal.

[VW used a different pulley set up on 1979? & later cars.]

Anyone on the list have experience removing this?
