I would say that a big part of the problem is your downpipe. Before I
had mine replaced my idle did a similar thing. Any hole in the exhaust
system is going to toy with your car's small brain. once you replace
your downpipe you will notice that the car feels a lot more solid and it
should, for the most part, clear up your idle problem.
BTW- if you didn't already know, go with Techtonic Tuning's downpipe-
it's literally half the price of VW's.

start it up in the morning the idle is really bad, tach goes up and
down, up and down.... almost like its gonna stall eventually. Only
thing i can think thats wrong with the car is the plugs cap and rotor
haven't been replaced in a while, and i have a large hole in my downpipe
(ye old flex coupling problem). Could this be the problem, o2 sensor
reading wrong due to the hole?
