Re: Rings n' tings

Hmm Well I used them in my buildup that finished about 6 months ago, I've
put around 6000 miles on it and the rings work fine for me. I have nothing
to compare it to, however i've had no problems.
Installing the rings I found that there was a lot of end gap, but I called
Total Seal and of course they said it was fine. It was at the outer edge of
specs for my motor.

Now that I think about what Shawn said, on my last compression test my
reading were a bit uneven.. cyl 1 and 2 were like 155psi, 3 was 140 i think
and 4 was like 160 or something. I remember they were all good, but more
uneven than i would like for a new motor.

Here's the specs I recorded building the motor. Keep in mind this was my
first time ever CC'ing anything so it's not very accurate (why i did it
twice) but id say it was + or - 2cc .

Piston ring end gap:
	 Cyl 1 Cyl 2 Cyl 3 Cyl 4
Top .17" .17" .17" .17"
2nd .16" .14" .17" .16"
oil .23" .14" .22/.18" .18"

        Cyl 1 Cyl 2 Cyl 3 Cyl 4
1st CC 29cc 29cc 30cc 28cc
2nd CC 28.5cc 28.5cc 29.5cc 28.5cc

The TS rings aren't teflon or nylon coated, they are regular rings, but
they have a special 2nd ring with 3 parts that are offset so as to
eliminate the ring end gap. Works in theory, i've never seen back to back
tests though. That'd be expensive!!
