this could be a hint.

the plate was a genuine German plate and a special one :
one of the new type of German plates that are used for 
transfering or test-driving a car.
I has the expiration date on the right side.
As all new German plates it has the weird looking letters 
that should make them copy-proof.
This plate is quite striking, unfortunately I have no photo of it,
maybe Rich has one.
