Yes the stock size for 13X5 (mk1) or 13X5.5 rims (mk2 8v) is 175/70-13. But you can run 185/70-13 with no problem except for speedo error.

Same holds true for 14X6 rims. Stock is 185/60-14, but I ran 195/60-14 on my old 1981 S for years.

Bumping up the section width on 15" and larger rims is another story :-)
